Welcome From The President
Dear HSU Students,
Welcome to the website of the Associated Students of Humboldt State University, and thank you for taking the time to find out about your Associated Students. It’s important to the AS Council and myself, that the services and programs we support continue to encourage and improve the educational experience here at HSU. The Associated Students serves a vital and substantial role here at the University, so we believe it is important to have as many students as possible serve within some capacity of our organization.
During the year the Council and I will be working on a number of initiatives that center on improving the University’s sustainability, inclusiveness, and diversity. We also hope to establish a Student Trust Fund, that will look to empower the student voice and further their educational opportunities at HSU. It is my belief that the students can be an effective and influential resource on this campus, and I would like to increase the size and strength of this voice over the next year. All of us at HSU pride ourselves on our unique qualities and perspectives and, it is important to retain that pride of HSU and it’s students since HSU faces yet another year with a decreased budget. I encourage you all to get involved with AS, and the many programs and committees’ we support, so that you’re aware of the issues on campus and are a part of the solutions to help make it better. Furthermore, it’s a great way to get involved with the campus community.
On behalf of the Associated Students, welcome to Humboldt State University for the 2011-2012 academic year! I’m excited and feel very privileged to serve as your Associated Students President.
